Christie McNair
Board Chair
Hi, my name is Christie McNair and I am a native of Wilson county. I currently serve as a practice manager with Contentnea Health while also pursuing a masters degree in clinical mental health counseling at the University of Mount Olive. Being a part of the Board of Directors with the Wesley Shelter allows me to fulfill my desire to help and serve others in my community.
Carlene McCall
Vice Board Chair
I am a practice manager for four primary care practices. I oversee daily operations, support medical staff, and ensure high-quality patient care. With a strong commitment to community health, I am passionate about giving back and supporting initiatives that make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.
Amanda Gardner
Board Treasurer/Secretary
Amanda Gardner is Assistant Director and Adult Services Manager at Wilson County Public Library. She has a Master of Business Administration from Arkansas State University and a Master of Library and Information Science from Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois. Amanda is a compassionate leader with 20 years of experience across four libraries. She is Wilson County Partnership for Children Board Treasurer and serves on the Wilson/Greene Housing Committee and the Wilson Workforce Committee. In her spare time, Amanda enjoys traveling with her husband of 21 years and spoiling her fur children!
Sondra Artis
Board Member
Sondra Artis has a background as a broadcast journalist and communications specialist for two North Carolina governors.
Serving her community is a priority, especially by helping desperate people at their most desperate times.
Sondra is an alumna of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Mike Harrell
Board Member
Sgt. Harrell has been employed with the Wilson Police Department for over 20 years. During his employment, he has been heavily involved in community service and helping those in need. During his time in law enforcement, Sgt. Harrell has been involved with helping numerous victims of domestic violence with housing and other services.
Sgt. Harrell has relied heavily on the services of the Wesley Shelter to help those victims and is excited to be more involved and connected with the Wesley Shelter in the coming years.
Felicia Artis
Board Member
I’m Felicia Artis, a Wilson native. I’m a dedicated public servant with 20 years of experience at the Wilson Police Department. Serving the community has always been close to my heart and I take pride in building strong, positive relationships within the community I serve. I also serve on the Board of the Wesley Shelter, where I am passionate about supporting its mission and looking forward to contributing to even greater impact through this organization and the community they serve.
Damon Pope
Board Member
As a Wilson native I have a great appreciation for all the things that make our city a unique and wonderful place to live. Growing up in Wilson I learned the values of helping others and giving back to the community from my parents, Bob and Ruth Pope, Wilson residents for over 70 years. After living in Raleigh, NC and Fort Collins, CO, I returned to my home town in 2019 with my wife, Amy Pope. The greatest real estate transaction of my life was buying the house I grew up in and making it our home. Amy and I are Real Estate Brokers at Our Town Properties and I am an Insurance Agent. I am active in the Wilson Chamber of Commerce, President of the Wilson All American Kiwanis Club, an officer at the Wilson Elks Lodge and a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church. I am proud to join the Board of Wesley Shelter. My leisure activities include backpacking the Appalachian Trail, running and enjoying family time in Emerald Isle.
