Our Mission

Wesley Shelter, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization in Wilson, NC whose mission is:

​

(A) to provide emergency shelter, 24 hour crisis line, advocacy, counseling, legal and supportive services to those who are in crisis as a result of domestic or sexual violence and human trafficking and to women and children who are homeless as defined by appropriate standards;

​

B) to make referrals to appropriate employment, housing and other social supports; and

​

C) to provide professional and community education about domestic and sexual violence and human trafficking. The goal is to end violence and build healthy, self-sufficient families in a community educated on the issues.

Wesley shelter believes in an equitable, inclusive, and safe workplace and community. 

​

Our mission is to fight and advocate for those who are victims of domestic and sexual violence. Likewise, we are committed to dismantling racial injustices and racial inequalities.

About Us

Wesley Shelter, Inc. is the domestic violence & sexual assault response agency in Wilson County. Since 1983, Wesley Shelter has been serving the Wilson community through its many programs. What started as a small shelter for battered women has grown to include comprehensive services to all victims of domestic and sexual violence. Services include Domestic and Sexual Violence Response, Services for Homeless Women and Children, The Edward Y.C. Thorne Safe House, 24 Hour Crisis Line, Women’s Center, Children’s Programs, Hispanic Outreach Services, Counseling, Legal Services, The Clothes Line, and more. Over 1,500 clients are served each year with multiple service units.
